Grow your own Juice

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

In all vegetable juice diets, it is recommended to get organic crops. This means that they are grown with less, if not none at all, pesticides or fertilizers of any type. This ensures that you are getting them thus getting the complete nutrients. If you have fresh vegetables in your electric juicers, you also get fresh juices.

But what if the closest place you can buy vegetables is a supermarket where they don’t come as organic as you want them to be? Should your vegetable juicing experience suffer?

For non-organic vegetables, you can wash them thoroughly to make sure that all pesticide remains are removed. However, the down-side to this is that since most nutrients lay just beneath the outer layer, the nutrients are also removed in washing.

Another option you might want to consider is growing your own organic garden. Yep, a garden. You grow your own carrots, beets, tomatoes and anything you want to juice.  If you own your own crops, you get to see what happens and what goes on what. You can also make sure that no harmful pesticides or fertilizers that have ill-effects on the crops are present. What goes on your juicer is the freshest of the fresh. Another advantage is that you never run out of vegetables to juice. If you suddenly need one, you can just pick up your type of vegetable; put it in your vegetable juicer and juice fast.

Yes, having a garden isn’t easy. It requires your time, patience and love. But one day, all the sweat and effort will be all worth it. Its rewards are manifested in the crops that you’ll reap. The fresher the fruit; the fresher the juice. Your health juicer will definitely be put to good use.

The basics in cleaning your juicers

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Different juicer recipes call for a variety of fruits or vegetables. Each fruit and vegetable after juicing does not have the same residues left. Some pulps are harder to get off than others which make cleaning even the compact juicers a little bit complicated.

To ensure that your electric juicers are in top shape, always clean them right after using.

Right after using, unplug the juicer. Remove the parts of your juicer one by one. Then, discard the pulps that are still inside. Rinse all the parts of the juicer. This is to remove any food particles that have managed to stick. If you do this right after juicing, the food particles haven’t tried yet which means they are easier to remove. Wash and scrub the filters or sieves well.  After which, wash the pieces with soap and use a sponge in doing so. You can dry the pieces with a towel or just set them out to dry naturally.
Lastly, wash the base of the juicer.

Taking care of your juicers is essential for them to have a longer life span. The better you take care of your juicers, the longer you’ll get to use them. Even if you have the best juicer in town but don’t know how to take care of it is still of no use. You won’t get to maximize its full potential. Juicers, like any other thing, needs to be looked out for and taken care of so it can provide you with fresh juices that are rich in vitamins and vital nutrients for our bodies.

Why We Should Drink Fresh Juice

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Bottled juices that contain preservatives flood the market today. One of the problems with these is that they have little or no nutrients at all because they are lost during the bottling process. Making our very own homemade fresh juice by using an electric juicer will give you control over the quality of the fruits and vegetables you and your family are consuming.

The National Cancer Institute concluded that people need to increase their consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. Two to four servings of vegetables a day is important and the simplest way of doing this is to do some vegetable juicing.

No matter how old a person is, it’s never too late to start making beverages out of fruits and vegetables and drinking them religiously. Fresh juice does not have preservatives which can cause cancer in the long run. In fact, it flushes out toxins from the body and is good for your overall well being. It’s good for the blood circulation, heart and for those who are conscious of their weight. Making them at home also do not contain saturated fats or sodium and can even be helpful in lowering the cholesterol. When introducing fresh juice to your baby, always follow the advice of a pediatrician.

Watching what we eat is very important especially for those suffering from common ailments such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity. These people have a long list of restricted food and it makes life a little less fun.

All health care specialists recommend vegetables to improve a person’s health and a great option for that is vegetable juices. If blended with the right combination of ingredients, the taste can be enjoyed by many. Vegetable juice can also add to a person’s hydration levels.

Juices that have been extracted from fresh raw vegetables are more beneficial because they provide our body with the elements and nutritional enzymes which we require. The body can derive juices from whole vegetables, but fresh juices can be easily digested and assimilated.

Some common vegetables that make great juice are tomatoes, carrots, red beets and cucumber. Tomatoes help reduce acidity and can improve metabolism as well as increase Vitamin C levels, which means increasing your energy. Carrots are high in fiber and helps ease bowel movements, improve vision and burns fat faster. Cucumbers help relieve acidity while cooling your stomach. They have high water content and can keep you hydrated for hours. Red beets are known to be blood purifiers and drinking a glass two to three times a week will help reduce weight by about 15 percent. It is a detoxifying drink and flushes away the toxins in your body.

Juice Up Your Diet

Implementing a juicing plan in your daily diet is one key that can give you energetic, radiant and optimal health. Heating food can damage sensitive and valuable micronutrients which are needed by your body and you can get these back by drinking fresh vegetable or fruit juices together with each meal.

The National Cancer Institute began a campaign that encouraged people to add more fruits and vegetables in their diet. The recommendation was to have an intake of five servings of fresh fruit and three servings of vegetables a day. Just by using a health juicer, this simple routine can save people from having several types of ailments and even cure them. Each glass of fresh juice contains phytochemicals or plant chemicals that hold the key to preventing various deadly diseases such as cancer, asthma, allergies.

To meet your daily dose of fruits and vegetables, squeezing fruits or juicing them is suggested. Mixing an assortment of fruits and vegetables in one drink has been common and is favored by many people. If you combine two different vegetables and fruits per meal, such as apples and carrots or strawberry and banana, that would give you a total of six servings a day.

Fruit and vegetable juicing, though, needs to be done carefully with a special type of juicer since most juice extractors discard vital nutrients with the pulp. For those trying to lose weight, dietitians highly recommend that they substitute juice for a meal. Also, adding a small amount of vegetable pulp into the juice can help make drinking juiced vegetables satisfying.
