The basics in cleaning your juicers

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Different juicer recipes call for a variety of fruits or vegetables. Each fruit and vegetable after juicing does not have the same residues left. Some pulps are harder to get off than others which make cleaning even the compact juicers a little bit complicated.

To ensure that your electric juicers are in top shape, always clean them right after using.

Right after using, unplug the juicer. Remove the parts of your juicer one by one. Then, discard the pulps that are still inside. Rinse all the parts of the juicer. This is to remove any food particles that have managed to stick. If you do this right after juicing, the food particles haven’t tried yet which means they are easier to remove. Wash and scrub the filters or sieves well.  After which, wash the pieces with soap and use a sponge in doing so. You can dry the pieces with a towel or just set them out to dry naturally.
Lastly, wash the base of the juicer.

Taking care of your juicers is essential for them to have a longer life span. The better you take care of your juicers, the longer you’ll get to use them. Even if you have the best juicer in town but don’t know how to take care of it is still of no use. You won’t get to maximize its full potential. Juicers, like any other thing, needs to be looked out for and taken care of so it can provide you with fresh juices that are rich in vitamins and vital nutrients for our bodies.

The types of Juicers

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Juicing is the act of extracting juices out of fruits and vegetables. It has been proven to be a healthy option for most diets and is mostly recommended by nutritionists and naturopaths alike. To make the best juices, certain equipments were designed solely for this purpose. Equipments that can maximize the fruits and vegetables and extract all the juices there are in them. These are referred to commercial juicers. If you’re unsure what to buy, read through so we can somehow share our insights on you.

There are citrus juicers used for squeezing juice from citrus fruits which have soft, juicy centers. Fruits are halved and then pressed down to extract the juices. The fruits are discarded afterwards. These juicers come in two kinds: hand-held and electric.

There are also juice extractors which are modern machines that automatically divide the solid part of the fruit or vegetable from their juices. The end product is a refreshing, rich juice and the pulp. The latter is discarded or used for recipes that call for them. Most of the new juicers are electric which do not need that much effort and is usually preferred by most households.

These electric juicers come in 3 kinds: masticating, triturating and centrifugal. Masticating juicers grinds the fruits or vegetable before extracting the juices out. Triturating juicers are the most expensive ones in the market. It uses twin gears to crush the fruits. The juices flow between the two gears while the pulp goes through the top of the gears and are then discarded. Centrifugal juicers have blades to cut through the fruits and a sieve that separates the juice from the pulp.

In choosing what juicer to use, always go for the best juicer according to your needs.
