The basics in cleaning your juicers

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Different juicer recipes call for a variety of fruits or vegetables. Each fruit and vegetable after juicing does not have the same residues left. Some pulps are harder to get off than others which make cleaning even the compact juicers a little bit complicated.

To ensure that your electric juicers are in top shape, always clean them right after using.

Right after using, unplug the juicer. Remove the parts of your juicer one by one. Then, discard the pulps that are still inside. Rinse all the parts of the juicer. This is to remove any food particles that have managed to stick. If you do this right after juicing, the food particles haven’t tried yet which means they are easier to remove. Wash and scrub the filters or sieves well.  After which, wash the pieces with soap and use a sponge in doing so. You can dry the pieces with a towel or just set them out to dry naturally.
Lastly, wash the base of the juicer.

Taking care of your juicers is essential for them to have a longer life span. The better you take care of your juicers, the longer you’ll get to use them. Even if you have the best juicer in town but don’t know how to take care of it is still of no use. You won’t get to maximize its full potential. Juicers, like any other thing, needs to be looked out for and taken care of so it can provide you with fresh juices that are rich in vitamins and vital nutrients for our bodies.

The types of Juicers

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Juicing is the act of extracting juices out of fruits and vegetables. It has been proven to be a healthy option for most diets and is mostly recommended by nutritionists and naturopaths alike. To make the best juices, certain equipments were designed solely for this purpose. Equipments that can maximize the fruits and vegetables and extract all the juices there are in them. These are referred to commercial juicers. If you’re unsure what to buy, read through so we can somehow share our insights on you.

There are citrus juicers used for squeezing juice from citrus fruits which have soft, juicy centers. Fruits are halved and then pressed down to extract the juices. The fruits are discarded afterwards. These juicers come in two kinds: hand-held and electric.

There are also juice extractors which are modern machines that automatically divide the solid part of the fruit or vegetable from their juices. The end product is a refreshing, rich juice and the pulp. The latter is discarded or used for recipes that call for them. Most of the new juicers are electric which do not need that much effort and is usually preferred by most households.

These electric juicers come in 3 kinds: masticating, triturating and centrifugal. Masticating juicers grinds the fruits or vegetable before extracting the juices out. Triturating juicers are the most expensive ones in the market. It uses twin gears to crush the fruits. The juices flow between the two gears while the pulp goes through the top of the gears and are then discarded. Centrifugal juicers have blades to cut through the fruits and a sieve that separates the juice from the pulp.

In choosing what juicer to use, always go for the best juicer according to your needs.

Fresh Juice Improves the Digestive System

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Fresh fruit and vegetable juices made only by using an electric juicer works wonders for your health and body. They contain digestive enzymes that work to breakdown old food debris in your digestive tract. Other nutrients in the juice regenerate the glands and organs responsible for digestion and strengthen muscle action, giving your body the ability to absorb nutrients more efficiently. Improving your digestion means that you are also making your overall health better, which in turn gives you more energy.

Juicing can also help you get those eight daily glasses of water that you should be drinking daily. Fruits and vegetables contain a large percentage of water that is necessary to flush out the toxins in our body. If you’re somebody who is trying to lose weight and you stay hungry all the time, it may be because your body lacks the needed vitamins and minerals that can be lost by cooking food.

It is important for us to stay away from bottled drinks, especially sodas. Investing in a juice extractor or a centrifugal juicer is the best. Finding a good juicer recipe and experimenting at home is a good way to get started.

Role of Vegetable Juicing in Our Daily Diet

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Each and every one of us needs raw foods every day and one excellent way to make sure that you receive the right amount is by juicing raw fruits and vegetables. All you need is a good recipe, fresh fruits and vegetables, and an electric juicer or any juicer that you like. One disadvantage that fruit juicing has over vegetable juicing, though, is that diabetics can’t drink them since they tend to increase insulin levels. Vegetable juice does not do the same except for carrot or beet juice which function is similar to fruit juice.

As a result of poor food choices for several years, a lot of us have relatively compromised intestines. This limits our body’s ability to absorb all the nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables and juicing tends to facilitate this absorption. Vegetable juicing also allows you to eat more of the vegetables than you normally would and by incorporating the juice into your daily diet, you can easily reach the one pound of raw vegetables that is generally recommended per 50 pounds of body weight.

Ideally, it is best to mix the pulp in with the juice or you can also eat it since it is high in fiber and very nutritious. The fiber helps to move the bowels rapidly and also serves as fertilizer for the good bacteria that are present in the colon.

Those who have a very hectic schedule in their everyday lives wonder how they can be able to get all the nutrients they should from fresh vegetables and fruits when they can’t even sit down and have a proper meal. The answer to that is simple, and that is fresh juice. Finding a good juicer recipe and stuffing down your favorite fruits and vegetables in a commercial juicer will do the trick. The best part is that you can put the juice in a flask and bring it around wherever you go.

Making endless combinations with different fruits and vegetables can be exuberating. You can fit several servings into breakfast and lunch, then let your health and body enjoy the benefits of fresh juice right away.
After a week or two of regularly drinking natural juices made from fresh fruits and vegetables you will notice that your skin has become clearer and more radiant. Your digestion will be better as well, and the juice will cleanse your colon, kidneys and detoxify your liver, thus making you less bloated.

Fresh juice created with an electric juicer can be stored in the refrigerator up to 24 hours, which means that you can make what you need the next morning or night. Taking it to work and keeping it in the office’s refrigerator can also be done, and doing this is more nutritious than drinking soda or coffee.

Fresh Juice Is Essential For Our Health

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for our health and juicing them is the best way to get maximum benefits. Nutritionists say that raw fruits and vegetables are source of essential vitamins and minerals, because cooking them destroys some of the nutrients. These nutrients are the ones responsible for combating colds and flu, keeping the skin looking healthy, speeding up the natural healing process and others. Enzymes, bio-flavanoids, vitamins and minerals that are found in uncooked fruits and vegetables are the same as those found in their juices, so when drinking fresh juice you take significantly more nutrients than you can ever hope to eat.

Fruit and vegetable juicing are appetite appeasing and low in calories. By drinking at least one glass of juice, the desire you have for starches and other foods that are high in calories will lessen. A diet that is low in fat, adequate protein, carbohydrates and fresh fruits and vegetables is an effective way to control weight. What’s amazing about it is that all you need is a single gear juicer or a juice extractor.

Freshly squeezed juices are essential in maintaining a healthy living and the nutrition they have is absorbed by our body within minutes after consumption. If eaten normally, vegetables and fruits take up to six hours to digest, in which time a considerable proportion is by-passed as waste.
